Got these errors after installing Devuan Beowulf on an old Toshiba laptop. Found answer here.

# nano /etc/default/grub

Add video=SVIDEO-1:d to grub command line:

GRUB_CMDLINE_LINUX_DEFAULT="quiet video=SVIDEO-1:d"

# update-grub
# reboot
